Under the general supervision of the Manager, Nursing Services, and Registered Staff Nurse and according to established policies and procedures, observes continuous patient electrocardiograms and reports and documents changes in rhythms and maintains the physical environment of the nursing unit. Assists patients with the activities of daily living and provides basic nursing care to assigned patients. Work is of a highly confidential nature. Performs other work of the department as required.EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Six months experience in a patient care related field preferred and completion of formal Nursing Assistant course required. Must be currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the Division of Facility Services without substantiated findings. Prior experience in data entry preferred. The employee must have the ability to understand, communicate and react effectively to the unique needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. CPR required and provided. Previous experience performing EKGs is desirable. Must pass the Arrhythmia monitoring exam prior to working as Monitor Tech. Must complete a basic arrhythmia course within 30 days of hire.
