POSITION SUMMARY: Performs clerical and secretarial duties related to unit under supervision of DON or charge nurse. Communicates with nurses and relays pertinent information timely. Is responsible for scheduling lab tests as ordered by physicians. Assists Resident Care coordinator with admissions and other tasks. Orders/maintains medical supply inventory. Maintains supply of forms at nurses station. Responsible for diaper pass. Maintains new charts. Assists with Medical Records. Updates policies. Assists with daily assignments. Fills out monthly CNA flow sheets. Schedules appointments and maintains transportation schedule. Conducts post discharge surveys. Processes information on the Center's Health Information System as required in performing and/or carrying out job responsibilities. A professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of residents, providing care through the continued utilization of the nursing process in collaboration with other health care team members. Assists residents with activities of daily living and provides basic nursing care to all residents. Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the DON or charge nurse and all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to work under the direction of a licensed nurse; and follow written or verbal instructions effectively. Demonstrates good writing or verbal communication skills. Follows directions without difficulty. Must have certification by State certified nursing assistant program as a Nurse Aide I. Participates in educational conferences, completes education in-services, and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to areas of practice.
