About Vidant Duplin Hospital
Vidant Duplin Hospital is a 81-bed, not-for-profit hospital, located in Kenansville, North Carolina. The newly renovated, 15-bed ER serves approximately 22,000 patients per year from the local community and surrounding towns.
The Director of Maintenance is a person who performs administrative, supervisory and professional duties in planning, directing, and supervising the activities of the Hospitals Maintenance and Engineering Services. The Director of Maintenance also assists the Hospital President with any problems or questions which may arise about Maintenance or Engineering.
Helps President and Planning Committees to implement long-range plans for the purpose of accomplishing the Hospitals goals and objectives.
Implement a planned Maintenance Program for facility and equipment.
Establish standards and procedures for maintain a sage and healthy environment.
Operate the department within the planned budget guidelines.
Develop a qualified staff to perform the work as needed.
Monitor the performance progress of the department staff on a regular basis.
Communicate and interpret JCAHO, state and local codes, recommendations and requirements related to the maintenance and operation of the facility.
Provide in-service training to those staff members whose performance is not meeting the minimum standards.
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with other departments within the facility.
Provide written or verbal progress reports when needed.
Maintain up-to-date logs and files related to Maintenance and Engineering operations of the facility.
Maintain an available schedule of off-duty hours for emergency calls to the facility.
2 yr degree preferred
Minimum 10 years experience in Industrial Maintenance / Construction
Minimum 5 years in Management or Supervisory level experience
One year of special training in Mechanics, Electrical, Plumbing or Carpentry
Valid NC Drivers License
Two years experience in working with boilers, engines, HVAC units and plumbing.
Must be able to follow complex instructions.
Must be familiar with building maintenance techniques, equipment with operation of plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, heating systems and fire and safety regulations and procedures.
Understands engineering specifications and is familiar with industrial ordering procedures on such equipment as elevators and high pressure boilers and state and local building and sanitation codes.
Must have general knowledge of hospital operations.
Can apply principles of personnel management to selection and placement of workers.
Ability to supervise others and delegate responsibility.
