Responsible and accountable for medication order processing in the Pharmacy Department under the supervision of a pharmacist. Performs a variety of technical functions including preparation of IV solutions including chemotherapy, outpatient prescription processing, controlled substance deliveries and inventory, automated dispensing unit restocking and troubleshooting hardware/software problems, and code cart restocking. Passing the National Pharmacy Certification Exam is required. Schedule includes 40 hours per week, weekend rotation, and holidays. Shift may vary depending on staffing needs. Reports to Director/Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services.
Minimum Education: Completion of Pharmacy Technology program or one year pharmacy experience as pharmacy technician.

Licences/Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician completing National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam
Other: Demonstrates ability to perform CPhT duties. Good verbal communication skills. Attention to detail. Basic knowledge of out-of-date control procedures and patient care area inspections. Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations including medication dosage calculations. Ability to prioritize and work independently both in the pharmacy and in patient care areas. Knowledge of IV medication preparation in an ISO Class 7 Clean Room. Knowledge of USP797 IV Preparation Guidelines for gowning, scrubbing and aseptic technique. Ability to prepare all dosage forms of IV medications selecting appropriate IV delivery system in independent setting. Knowledge of drug information software programs. Competency with use of Laminar Flow Hoods and Automated Dispensing Cabinets.
