Job Description

The Phlebotomy Technician performs the collection of blood and other specimens required for laboratory testing from all types of patients. Promotes harmonious working relationships with co-workers and others by extending courtesy and consideration in interpersonal contacts. Receives/accessions specimens in computer system. Assists in the organizing of assigned duties and coordination of efforts with other phlebotomists. Assists with the orientation and/or training of phlebotomy personnel or students. Perform as backup lab courier. Performs other duties as assigned. Work schedule includes all shifts and weekends. Reports to the Laboratory Manager, Phlebotomy Supervisor and Supervisory staff.

Minimum Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

Minimum Experience: Completion of a structured phlebotomy program satisfying requirements for a certificate or six months total experience in phlebotomy.

Licences/Certification: Successful completion of the ASPT Phlebotomist or equivalent registry preferred.
