We are currently recruiting for a Senior Psychologist at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). The Senior Psychologist provides full range of psychological and behavioral assessment services to patients with severe and persistent mental illness, severe behavior disorders, and co-occurring disorders such as developmental disorders, substance abuse, and dementia in coordination with interdisciplinary treatment teams. Job responsibilities include the following:
Provides age and need appropriate behavioral (e.g., preference assessments and functional analysis of aberrant behavior), personality, cognitive, and adaptive assessments for use by the interdisciplinary treatment team to enhance case conceptualization and treatment planning.
Participate in the interdisciplinary treatment planning process including the design, implementation, and ongoing review of individualized treatment plans, including behavioral interventions and unit-wide behavioral systems intended to improve cognitive, behavioral, social, emotional, and adaptive functioning of patients.
Provide evidence-based group and individual behavioral therapy, skills training, and team-related patient services in accordance with treatment plans.
Provide psychologically and behaviorally-oriented training and consultation to unit staff and institution-wide committees and/or project teams.
Provide supervision for graduate-level psychology intern and practicum students.
Design, implement, and disseminate research designed to answer questions relevant to the assessment, care, and treatment of patients.
Provide consultation to schools, other human service agencies, and other health care facilities regarding specific patients and/or special topics, as appropriate.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all of the following:
Competency in the provision of psychological treatment including individual and group psychotherapy, techniques for increasing adaptive behavior such as shaping, differential reinforcement of behavior, modeling, and behavioral skills training, and in techniques for reducing problem behavior via contingency management.
Advanced skill in the proper application and interpretation of age appropriate psychological assessments, tests and measures, in preparing and presenting comprehensive, cohesive reports.
Skill in engaging patients and their caretakers in th development of age-appropriate treatment plans and the ability to adapt them to the cognitive and physical skills and limitations of impaired adults.
Ability to translate knowledge and information about ethnic and cultural backgrounds into treatment interventions including the consideration of cultural norms and values in assessments, treatment, and training.
ADA Physical requirements will be discussed during the interview. Visual attention, mental concentration, and manipulative skills are necessary for assessment, treatment, and documentation and are needed most of the time.
Management Prefers:Completion of the doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program
Completion of an accredited psychology internship training program
Two years of professional experience, preferably within a forensic program, one of which must be post-doctoral
Participation in continuing education activities to maintain up to date knowledge and skills

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Refer to the law for specifics regarding experience requirements.
