The ResearchÂ Technician II (Electron Microscopy) works under the direction of the Electron Microscopy Supervisor, preparing and processing of samples for electron microscopy.Â Candidate should be able to work independently to translate the instructions into specific tasks to assure proper completion of assigned duties. Processing of specimens must be scheduled and organized, data collected, and digital micrographs generated. The Technician II must be willing to learn electron microscopy and be able to contribute ideas to enhance the work performed for research and clinical programs. Performs laboratory research with minimal supervision. Assists in the design and development of experiments, including the development of new methodologies. Directs all aspects of the biochemical laboratory environment. Assists in the analyses and preparation of data for publication and presentation, and provides support to primary investigators.
Will be exposed to chemical solutions. Works in a laboratory environment and interacts with people at many professional/technical levels.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree preferred. 3 years of experience in related scientific field preferred. Ability to calculate and formulate chemical solutions, experience with pertinent equipment, and familiarity with techniques for examining oxygen free radicals, mitochondrial function, enzymology preferred.
