Job Description

Clinical Support Technician II forSurgical Oncology/ENT Acute Care.

This 24-bedunitis located ina beautiful area located on 7th floor of Neuroscience Building.This unit cares for ENT andoncology patients including management of breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, endocrine cancer, melanoma, sarcoma and blood transfusions, antibiotic therapy, wound care and end of life care.We will provide you with the knowledge and training to provide quality surgical oncology care to this group of patients.Our goal is to ensure that excellent care is provided to both the patient and family throughout hospitalization while promoting a relaxing environment.

The CST II functions in a dual role as a Nursing Assistant II and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC). On this unit you are able to utilize all of your NAII skills! Duties also include bathing, dressing, serving and collecting food trays, feeding patients requiring help, ambulating patients, turning patients, changing linens, running errands, directing visitors, answering patients' call bell system, maintaining patient charts and maintaining the confidentiality of all patient information.

The CST II is responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and / or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and performing a wide range of clerical, transcription, and maintenance of the patient care unit desk area functions. Performs patient care requiring clinical and procedural knowledge and skills requiring the use of sterile techniques, infusion monitoring, and medical equipment. Coordinates the flow of communications on the patient care unit. The CST II may or may not be given a defined patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager / charge nurse. Tracks supply inventory, orders supplies and special items. Assists unit with clerical and administrative support including PI audits and data entry.

This position is 36 hours/week; rotating to days, nights, and weekends working 12 hour shifts (7a-7:30p and 7p-7:30a). This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package including PTO hours accrued based on the number of hours hired to work. It also requires the ability to attend a week long orientation (7:30am-5:00pm) which is offered every two weeks.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Listed as Nursing Assistant II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. One (1) year of clerical or customer service experience and six (6) months of related nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
